'Last Week Tonight' Season 3 News: John Oliver Unveils Show's Funny Lost Graphics
John Oliver, the host of HBO's satirical talkshow "Last Week Tonight," drops another web exclusive before the show's return to television for season 3. This time around, the 38-year-old presenter offers graphics that weren't used in previous episodes of the program.
John Oliver opened the clip with an old photo of Paul Giamatti dressed as a mango, which appeared in the season one's "Lost Graphics" reel. The former "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" writer followed-up with "Part 2" of the graphics round-up, which features chickens photoshopped over famous celebrities. The host calls them "Hennifer Anniston," "Heather Flocklear" and "Larry Bird, Chicken Bird."
Another graphic places the Pope Francis' face on a condom wrapper, which Oliver says is "essentially just a wrapper with a wish inside."
Oliver also wondered why his graphics team needed to make an image of alligators taking over the city of Jackson, MS, as he believes that it already happened in real life.
The host also took a stab at actor Nicholas Cage, showing the "Face Off" star accepting a role in a fictional film called "Bark to the Future."
The other graphics aren't real, but "Community" actor claims they should be; this includes a zamboni-ambulance ("zambulance"), a promo poster for fake reality series called 'Real Forklift Operators of Reagan Airport' and a birthday card from grandma addressed to "dips***."
Oliver closed the clip with 80's prop comedian Gallagher smashing a watermelon with the his face on it, which came "directly from a nightmare" he had.
Earlier this month, Oliver decided to promote "Last Week Tonight" season 3 by poking fun at his haters by quoting their negative reviews of the program.
"The Wall Street Journal says 'It makes people dumb,'" the announcer said in a previous video. Oliver responds, "Be honest, do you really disagree with that?"
"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" season 3 airs on HBO on Feb. 14 at 11 p.m. EST.
