On Wednesday, Apple's Safari users worldwide complained that the browser kept crashing!

Users of Apple products such as the iPhone, iPad as well as Mac OS devices experienced problems using their devices' built-in internet browser. This lasted around seven hours globally.

Complaints about it included the browser closing automatically whenever a query was being typed or when merely tapping on the address bar of the browser.

"iOS 9.2.1- Safari crashes every time you tap on the search/address bar," as posted on Apple's online support forum.

Users on Reddit  who initially attributed this to the recent OS update (iOS 9.2.1) started discussing how to solve the issue.

Many Mac and iPhone users got angry about the crashing web browser and ranted about it on social media pages like Twitter and Facebook.

Apple Inc. did not reveal the cause of this outage but announced later that the issue had been fixed by 10.45 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Their support forums stated that Safari's search suggestion box was the source of this outage.

"Sources say the issue impacted only people whose Safari "Suggestions" data storage cache updated during early-morning hours, Pacific Time", published Buzzfeed. "The immediate cause of the crash was typing into the address bar. Emptying the cache should resolve the issue for those still experiencing it (click on the 'clear history and website data' in Safari's preferences)."

Disabling the suggestions feature in the settings menu of the browser has been suggested by tech geeks to fix this issue. Some developers comment that this outage might have been due to a server outage, however, the real cause is both unknown and it isn't revealed by the company too.

"In iOS, go to Settings > Safari and turn off Safari Suggestions", Chron clearly explains how to fix this issue, "And in OS X, launch Safari and in the Menu Bar go to Safari > Preferences > Search and uncheck the 'Include Safari Suggestions' box."
