‘Rail Wars’ Will No Longer Arrive On PS Vita; Game Dev Cancelled Game Due To ‘Various Circumstances’
Japanese game developer 5bp. cancelled PS Vita game "Rail Wars" also known in Japan as "Rail Wars! Karuizawa Yori Satsui." This was further detailed at the game's official website.
The game developer explained that the game was already in development, but fell behind the scheduled release date. So, the team behind the supposedly PS Vita title found it more convenient to cancel the game, Gematsu reported.
"Rail Wars" was first announced for a release in October 2014 but was delayed to November of the same year. However, no update has since been given regarding the game since then.
According to Anime News Network, the cancellation of PS Vita the game "Rail Wars" was due to "various circumstances" that came along while in development.
Reportedly, the said PS Vita game will follow the original storyline of "Rail Wars! Japanese National Railways Security Force" inspired by Takumi Toyoda's anime adaption of "Rail Wars! Nihon Kokuyu Tetsudo Koantai" novel series.
The series, so far, has eight volumes that have been published by Sohgeisha under their Sohgeisha Clear Bunko imprint. Meanwhile a manga adaptation "Rail Wars! Nihon Kokuyu Tetsudo Koantai The Revovler" began in Blade Online four years ago followed by the anime adaptation in July 2014.
"Rail Wars" PS Vita game is set in a parallel world wherein Japan's national railways weren't privatized.
Players will take on a journey role playing the character of Naohito Takayama, an ordinary high school boy, who dreams of his future working for the top-rated Japanese National Railways.
As the story progresses, Takayama discovers an extremist group called "RJ" that plans to privatize Japanese National Railways. The main character will be accompanied by Aoi Sakurai on his journey.
Meanwhile, the anime adaptation of the novels aired in Japanese theaters in July 2014.
Crunchyroll, on the other hand, streamed the anime version. Meanwhile, Sentai Frameworks published the anime on DVD in North America in December, Anime News Network added.
