George Clooney took home a puppy recently, however, such is a not a gift for his wife Amal Alamuddin but for another lady!

According to E! Online, the 54-year-old "Batman & Robin" actor got hold of the pet, which came from LuvFurMutts Animal Rescue, before Christmas.

The dog, which was named Nate, "was born with birth defects and was skin and bones upon rescue."

Being a philanthropist himself, the Oscar winner decided to adopt it and gifted it a very special lady in his life - his mom, Nina Clooney.

The shelter revealed on its Facebook page that "George picked Nate out, then showed him to his Mom, Nina, on YouTube."

"She watched his video over and over and she fell in love," the LuvFurMutts Animal Rescue stated about the adoption of Nate by George Clooney, whose wife, Amal Alamuddin is an international human rights lawyer.

"He then asked his Father Nick how he felt about the way Nate walks and he replied 'I guess it sounds like he gets around just as good as we do anymore,'" the shelter added.

Talking about human rights causes, the 37-year-old British-Lebanese attorney, who was accompanied by his client, former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed, had a meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday, reported Design & Trend.

In a press conference after his meeting with the British president, George Clooney's wife, Amal Alamuddin, emphasized that "We cannot forget that he has not been pardoned in the Maldives."

It can be noted that the former Maldivian leader was" granted a 30-day medical leave from his 13-year prison term."

"He has not been given permission to run in the next presidential elections," she added. "He was also not the only political prisoner behind bars in the country."

Amal Alamuddin, who has been married to George Clooney since 2014, continued by saying, "You have, at the moment, two former defense ministers, one former vice president, one former deputy parliamentary speaker, and leaders of every opposition party in prison in the Maldives."
