Recorded Video Of BMW M2 Coupe Becomes Viral; Shows Car Hits Top Speed On Autobahn
A video taken via a phone camera has become viral on several car related websites and forums recently. It involved a high-end model of the BMW M2 Coupe hitting its top speed while traversing the one of the most infamous highways in the world, the Autobahn in Germany.
According to Cars Scoops, the BMW M2 Couple model in the video has a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged straight six-pot engine. It has 365 horsepower and 343 pound-to-foot worth of torque.
The engine sends its entire power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, a standard for this model.
The BMW M2 Coupe manual model, the one used in the video, can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds. On the other hand, its option seven-speed dual-clutch DCT counterpart can hit the same acceleration feat in only 4.3 seconds.
The BMW M2 will not hit the European market until April. However, some lucky dealers and owners have the chance to get their hands on the car at a much earlier date than originally scheduled.
Some of these owners have started to upload videos about the car and how it performs in real life.
"BMW seem to have learned something from the M235i and the new M2's exhaust comes with a special flap system," cited BMW Blog.
"The traditional twin dual tailpipes are still present - a clear sign this is an M car- with electrically controlled flap delivering the distinctive BMW M engine soundtrack across the entire rev range without pushing volume levels to their stipulated limits."
In the Unites States, the newest BMW M model can fetch a price tag starting from $51,700. This figure excludes destination and handling fee which should be about $990. The car will be available in four color variants - Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Long Beach Blue and Mineral Grey.
