'Pacific Rim 2' Spoilers And Release Date: Sequel Canceled? Guillermo Del Toro Speaks Out
Moviegoers have been wondering if "Pacific Rim 2" will be released or not. Eventually, Guillermo Del Toro has finally responded about the reports that the film got cancelled.
According to new reports, "Pacific Rim 2" has been cancelled because of different issues in making the film work. However, Guillermo Del Toro responded to the issue.
"We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks. As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it," Del Toro said.
Inquisitr has recently revealed that budget could be one of the reasons why "Pacific Rim 2" will not be released at the given date.
Reports claimed that Del Toro has been having difficulties in coming up with the financial needs to produce the movie because it will be needing the best technologies to make it not only grand in visual, but in being life-like as well.
"It's not cancelled. I'm gonna do a little movie in between, if [the studio] deem[s] to approve it," Del Toro said, IGN quoted. "But in the meantime we're turning in a budget and a script in three weeks [on Pacific Rim 2]. So it's still active. I still have my producer working on the budget and I still have the writer working on the script."
Universal Pictures released an official statement saying that they will no longer produce the film on August 4, 2017.
"The filmmakers, Legendary, and Universal Pictures are committed to having Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim, which generated more $411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves," the statement reads, Inquisitr quoted. "To this end, the decision was made to delay the production and release of Pacific Rim so that the creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film."
As of now, there is no exact date as to when "Pacific Rim 2" will be released.
