Amy Schumer's Stand Up Has Comedienne Drunk On Stage? Tammy Pescatelli Apologizes!
Amy Schumer continues to be a trooper amidst all the jokes-stealing controversy that a few stand-up comedians have thrown her way over the past week. On Friday, the "Trainwreck" star took to Twitter to show fans what she has been doing to cope with the stress.
"Keeping my chins up," Amy Schumer wrote on Twitter, alongside a photo of herself gulping down alcohol on stage.
The "Trainwreck" star and screenwriter also thanked her fans for their support following the joke-stealing scandal. Schumer's Tweets come after a handful of comedians accused her of stealing their stand-up jokes, including Tammy Pescatelli and Wendy Liebman.
Because of the accusations, Amy Schumer drew a lot of criticism and was called a fraud by fans on social media. Meanwhile, other comedians stood by the "Trainwreck" star, including "Parks & Recreation" actor, Aziz Ansari.
In addition, Kyle Dunnigan, Amy Schumer's writing partner in the award-winning Comedy Central series, "Inside Amy Schumer," also defended the actress. "Amy Schumer is annoying," Dunnigan wrote. "In the writers room she's always asking 'has anyone heard this bit before?'. She's a nazi about it. Amy has generated almost 15 hours of original content in the past few years."
"The fact that there's 2 minutes of similar joke premises is very low," he said. "Anyone who writes comedy knows there are other people who independently come up with similar bits."
A few days after the controversy broke news, however, Tammy Pescatelli and Wendy Liebman backtracked on their joke-stealing accusations to Amy Schumer.
"After posting about Amy doing my joke, she wrote to me," said Wendy Liebman, adding that she now believes Schumer and her jokes were a result of "parallel thinking."
"I told her I maintained that I thought someone must have sold it to her," she added. "She said no one sold it to her, but she thought of it herself but she still wanted to make it right. Her writing to me was enough."
Meanwhile, Tammy Pescatelli apologized to for her accusations during an appearance on the "Opie with Jim Norton Show" on Sirius XM's One Radio.
"I went too deep," Pescatelli said. "It went too far, and for that I'm super apologetic."
