Amy Schumer's Stand-Up Jokes Were Stolen? 'Trainwreck' Star Deny Accusations Made By Fellow Comedians On Twitter
Amy Schumer is known for her self-deprecating and unapologetically sexual stand-up jokes. This has skyrocketed her into stardom and helped her establish friendships with A-list stars like Jennifer Lawrence in such a short period of time.
However, some people are now accusing Amy Schumer of stealing some of her stand-up jokes, as well jokes seen in her film, "Trainwreck" and Comedy Central special, "Inside Amy Schumer."
In now-deleted Tweets, according to Buzzfeed, Wendy Liebman and Tammy Pescatelli alleged Amy Schumer has been stealing jokes from other female comedians.
"If we call her on it we are 'jealous' or career shamed," wrote comedian, Tammy Pescatelli. "Be successful. WE want you to do well, just do it with your own material. BTW she blocked me."
After which, she posted a link to a joke she made in 2006, during "Half Hour" in Comedy Central.
She then compared it to a scene in Amy Schumer's hit movie, "Trainwreck" wherein Schumer's character says something similar.
Pescatelli also referenced a joke she made in the 90's, saying she was "pretty old fashioned. I like it when the guy pays... For sex," which was similar to Amy Schumer's 2015 stand-up bit where she said: "I'm a good person, I swear to you. I am very old-school - I think the guy should always pay on the first date. For sex."
Pescatelli also compared Amy Schumer's other stand-up jokes to the works of other comedians, including Kathleen Madigan's "Slap Oprah" sketch in 2011 and Patrice O'Neal's stand-up from 2006.
After these similarities were pointed out, people on Twitter have been accusing Amy Schumer of being a fraud, prompting the "Trainwreck" actress to speak up.

She also appeared on radio show, "The Jim Norton Advice Show" to defend herself.
"I wanted to come and talk to you and clear my name, because I would never ever do that and I never have," she said. "I'm so like, 'Is this anyone's bit?' I have to come up with so much material, for my TV show, this movie, stand-up, and I'm so careful, and none of these things had ever reached me. I would never do that, it would be so stupid for me to do that."
Schumer added: "Kathleen and Wendy know me and don't believe I would do that - I think that Tammy is trying to get something going, I don't know ... I think she is upset ... people get upset by success."
