'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: Stephen Amell Wants Deathstroke Back On Show?

"Arrow" has added several interesting characters in the past two years but the critical reception of the show's seasons 3 and 4 suggested nothing was improved. Lead cast Stephen Amell, who plays the title role, gave spoilers on who is missing from the show - Deathstroke.

Played by Manu Bennett, the character was the second season's biggest villain. He was defeated in the finale but returned briefly in one episode in the third season.

If it was up to him, Amell would want to have Bennett reprise his role.

"Manu is a character, and Manu played a great character," Stephen Amell said during a panel at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in New Jersey as reported by Comicbook.com.

"And I really honest think that Arrow has been missing something since he hasn't been around. I really do. He was a transformative villain. I would really love it if Deathstroke could keep being a part of the Arrow universe."

Bennett's portrayal of Deathstroke was well received both by critics and fans. He started as a recurring character in first season and was elevated as regular in season 2.

The problem with this though is that Bennett once said that "Arrow" TV series went in the wrong direction with regards to treatment of Deathstroke.

"I think Deathstroke had a lot of possibilities with Arrow but, I think they took it in the wrong direction," Bennett told Music.com.au back in April.

"It took the Justice League to defeat him; it took an army to take him on. In Arrow, it took a while for Oliver [Queen/Arrow] to prove his point, but [season three] was just a beating of Slade, adding insult to injury."

Meanwhile, another recurring villain will return and as per "Arrow" season 4 spoilers, he will be involved in a grand showdown with Starling City's Emerald Archer.

"We got the all-time - the all-time end of an episode [coming up] where you just go, 'MERLYN! C'MON! Really?!'" Amell said when asked for "Arrow" season 4 spoilers involving Malcolm Merlyn.

"Plus John [Barrowman] and I have a showdown. It's - we have the Rematch of 1.23. The rematch three years in the making. It's pretty cool."
