2016 Toyota Tacoma: Third Generation Pickup Truck Sports Bigger, More Powerful Engine
The 2016 Toyota Tacoma comes in sporting an all-new design concept compared to its direct predecessors and the midsized pickup truck boasts of some pretty impressive specs. This does not only focus on the engine but on the internal features as well.
One major design change on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is that the 4x4 and 4x2 models now sports identical designs, ride height and ground clearance. The single cab design was ditched as well in favor of the crew cab and extended design.
In terms of engine variant, there is still the fuel efficient four-cylinder engine and for buyers who want a bigger and more powerful engine, there is the V6 model.
In terms of external design, the 2016 Tacoma features a bulkier and blockier look. However, when closely measured, the truck's size has not changed at all. The front grille and the hood look bigger and is also identical to the Toyota Tundra.
The new Toyota Tacoma has a more roomy internal design with less bulky dashboard assembly. On the other hand, the lower roof and low range of steering wheel adjustments mean that taller drivers might experience quite a hard time when sitting on the driver seat.
On the engine side, the 2016 Tacoma comes in two variants; a four-cylinder or a six-cylinder engine. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine has 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet worth of torque. EPA rating is at 21mpg combine when driving it in 4x2 mode and 20mpg combine when driving in 4x4.
The biggest change so far is the new six-cylinder option.
According to The Fast Lane, it has a 3.5-liter engine that boasts of 278 horsepower and 265 pound-foot torque. Mileage rating is at 21mpg combined when driven in two-wheel drive automatic transmission and 19mpg combined with the 4x4 mode in manual transmission.
According to PC Mag, the base price of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma is $23,300 and for higher end models it can climb up to $35,280.
