Linsanity Definitely Back! Jeremy Lin Scores 26 As Charlotte Hornets Win Over New York Knicks
It was a huge win for the Charlotte Hornets and a major morale booster for Jeremy Lin, who brought his Linsanity, as they cleared the New York Knicks in their last bout, 97-84.
It was the second straight win for the Hornets and second straight loss for the Knicks.
The game marked a good run for Jeremy Lin, who seems to have found his Linsanity again based on his latest performance. The Charlotte Hornets player finished with 26 points and five assists. Kemba Walker chipped in another 26 points, six rebounds and five assists. PJ Hairston posted a double-double figure with a season high 20 points and 10 rebounds.
"Coach Clifford, he got on me, and it kind of fired me up. I just tried to take it all out on the court. You've got to find energy. This was a big game for us just like last night was. We had to come out and find the same energy we had," Hairston told reporters during the post-game press conference, per NBA.com.
Four key Hornets players were out during the game due to injury. Cody Zeller was unavailable due to shoulder injury. Nic Batum and Jeremy Lamb had toe injuries while Al Jefferson is out due to a knee injury.
The small backcourt duo of Jeremy "Linsanity" Lin and Walker was the main offensive firepower that fueled the Charlotte Hornets' victory. The duo posted a perfect 19 of 19 at the free-throw line and helped the team overcome a 32 percent field goal shooting percentage, according to Hoops Habit.
On the side of the Knicks, it was a bad night for star Carmelo Anthony who only scored nine points. Despite this subpar performance, Anthony did manage to pass Gary Payton for the 30th spot on the all-time career scoring list.
Knicks ace rookie Kristaps Porzingis added 13 points and four rebounds. Off the bench, Derrick Williams contributed 19 points and 14 rebounds to post a double-double figure.
