'Harry Potter' Star Daniel Radcliffe And Emma Watson Make Headlines; Latter Makes Forbes '30 Under 30' List
Long after the "Harry Potter" films wrapped up, Hogwarts alumni, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are still making waves and taking names in Hollywood.
As of late, "Harry Potter" himself has been earning props for his eccentric roles in movies, the latest one is in "Swiss Army Man," where he plays the role of a "flatulent dead corpse."
"[Swiss Army Man] stars Paul Dano as a suicidal man stranded on a desert island and ready to give up hope, when a flatulent corpse (played by Daniel Radcliffe) washes ashore," Vanity Fair reportd. "Dano is able to board Radcliffe's cadaver and ride it like a jet ski back to land, where Radcliffe's various body parts offer a surprising number of survival utilities during Dano's trek back to civilization."
Filmmakers Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan revealed after the film's Sundance Festival Screening that the concept for Daniel Radcliffe's new movie started out as a joke.
"Originally it was just a fart joke that Dan made to me," Scheinert said of the film's inspiration. "And then, just joking along the way about how the man riding a farting corpse could be a feature, I think we stumbled on something personal."
Asked why Radcliffe signed on to do the project, he answered: "The script was really funny and original. And then Paul (Dano) wrote to me and said, essentially, 'I think these directors are crazy geniuses.' Then I met Dan Scheinert, and the chance to play a dead guy in this context was just too much fun to pass up."
Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe's "Harry Potter" co-star, Emma Watson recently made another milestone in her career - being named one of the "30 Under 30" influential people in Europe.
The 25-year-old actress was nominated both for her work in film and the United Nations as a spokesperson for the HeForShe campaign.
"Arguably the most successful graduate of Hogwarts, Watson has starred in both big budget movies ("Noah") and indie fare ("Colonia")," Forbes Magazine wrote. "A United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador since 2014, Watson's advocacy on behalf of the HeForShe campaign makes her an important spokesperson for gender equality."
Other celebrities in the "30 Under 30" list are Adele, Emilia Clarke, Hozier, Saoirse Ronan, Maria Sharapova, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and more.
