'Ray Donovan' Season 4 News: Katie Holmes' Paige To Return? Release Date Set For July 2016?

Showtime has renewed "Ray Donovan" for season 4, but producers of the crime drama series have yet to announce a specific release date for its return.

A report by International Business Times, "Ray Donovan" season 4 was initially planned to be released in the second week of July this year. Considering the previous seasons' release date, season 4 could premiere July 10 or July 17, both of which are Sundays.

Meanwhile, many are wondering if fan favorite Paige Finney (Katie Holmes) will return. According to "Ray Donovan" showrunner David Hollander, he would need to find relevant angles for Holmes' character to fit in the follow up season.

"I'm never finished with anybody. But her family certainly is not going to be a centerpiece as a plot initially," Holland said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "If something about it becomes relevant to the story and can be additive and bring up more places to explore, sure. I love those actors and characters."

Season 3's action packed finale left the entire Donovan family fractured. Holland says Season 4 will explore Ray's past in a new city.

"Season four is going to look closely at Ray's option or desire to go further with facing his own past, but that desire is going to lead him into a new form of relationship, a relationship that is going to open up his life personally and professionally in yet another large city," he said. "There will be new situations, a new family dynamic, and along the way that will really impact every member of his family and in a strange way conflate with Mickey again"

"We're really excited about where we're going in season four, it's going to be an emotional, but big and loud and brassy and visually fun year," he added. "With Los Angeles and another city becoming enforcer frames at the same time."
