Release Date For ‘Kick-Ass 3’ Movie Needs A Prequel First? Director Matthew Vaughn Gearing Up

Fans may be considered as one of the life blood to a success of most franchises.

It could be said that this principle rings through with director Matthew Vaughn, who said that a prequel is needed in order for a release date to "Kick-Ass 3" to ever happen.

It was recently reported by Tech Times that when Jeff Wadlow took over the helm to direct the sequel to "Kick-Ass," it did not pan out too well to its adoring fans and may have just been the ender to a possible string of movies from the franchise.

However, the source noted in an interview that Matthew Vaughn, who directed the first "Kick-Ass" movie, has plans to win the hearts of the franchise's fan base by coming up with a prequel for a Hit-Girl standalone film.

Director Matthew Vaughn is of the opinion that if the prequel turns out well, then that could be stepping stone to finally set a release date for "Kick-Ass 3," according to the source.

"We are working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy," the acclaimed director said during a Yahoo Movies press event. "If we make that, hopefully, that will be the sorbet for the people that did not like 'Kick-Ass 2' and then we can go off and make 'Kick-Ass 3.'"

"I think we have got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with 'Kick-Ass.'"

This might just be the news that the initial "Kick-Ass" fans needed to hear, especially after a report that claimed that actress Chloe Moretz (who portrayed the iconic character Hit Girl) was said to be done with her role in the franchise, as stated by CinemBlend.

"Sadly, I think I'm done with the character," the actress said. "Hit Girl was a very cool character, but I don't think there will be any more movies."

"You make these movies for the fanboys, but nowadays everyone seems to pirate them rather than watch them in the movie theater. 'Kick-Ass 2' was one of the number one pirated movies of the year, but that doesn't help us because we need box office figures."

"We need to prove to the distributors that we can make money from a third and fourth movie - but because it didn't do so well, we can't make another one."

With that being said, is it still possible for a "Kick-Ass 3" release date to be announced? Or will the director just find another start to replace Chloe Grace Moretz?
