Jada Pinkett Smith Fires Back At Oscars Boycott Diss Against Her And Husband Will Smith!
It seems like the Oscars is getting more and more controversial this year.
Jada Pinkett Smith immediately fires back at people who dissed her and husband Will Smith for boycotting the upcoming awards night.
After being accused of being "pretend freedom fighters" by "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" actress Janet Hubert and "gay hypocrites" by transgender star Alexis Arquette, Will Smith's wife definitely did not take things sitting down.
In an exclusive report by ET Online, the "Gotham" star reportedly addressed the issues thrown at them "calmly."
"Considering that Alabama had its highest recruitment for the KKK for Martin Luther King's birthday, I hope that we as African-Americans can find a way to get along and step together," Smith said as a response to Hubert.
"This whole Oscar controversy isn't really about the Oscars. Really, in my plea to ask all communities and people of color to take back our power is so that we can use it in all sectors of our community, and right now, specifically with African-American people, we have some very serious issues that I think we as a people have to move together on. I'm hoping we can find ways to step together in this instead of finding ways to fight each other. I got love for everybody."
Will Smith, on the other hand, has yet to release any statement about the controversy he and his wife are facing.
And while some may not have liked Jada Pinkett Smith's reaction to the recent Oscars list of nominees, the 44-year-old actress found an ally on Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President.
"This is a difficult but important conversation, and it's time for big changes," the Academy's first black president, said in a statement reported by ET Online. "The Academy is taking dramatic steps to alter the makeup of our membership. In the coming days and weeks, we will conduct a review of our membership recruitment in order to bring about much-needed diversity in our 2016 class and beyond."
