'Outlander' Cast Caitriona Balfe Reveals Why She Won't Date Co-Star Sam Heughan

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan clicked right from the first time they appeared on screen. Now, their pairing in Starz TV series "Outlander" is one of the most followed on television.

Some fans noted that their romance is so real that they cannot help but speculate that the actors are actually together in real life.

But Balfe-Heughan shippers may be in for a disappointment as they are not in a relationship and it looks like the actress would not even give it a chance because of their job.

"We're not together. I'm sorry to break people's hearts." the 36-year old Irish actress said in an interview with E! Online.

"They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story," she said. "But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together."

The brave "Outlander" couple is among the biggest reason why fans are raving about the show. However, in real life, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan just share friendship.

The actress even relayed just how great they are as colleagues.

"It's funny," she said. "We've always said from the get go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well."

"Outlander" season 2 is set to arrive this year although the release date is yet to be announced. The sophomore run of the Starz TV series based on Diana Gabaldon's novels will see Claire and Jamie journey their way to France where they have a political mission to complete.

In the middle of this, they will face personal challenges as well as obstacles as parents.

The second season of "Outlander" will be set in France and will feature new characters.

Among the new cast members of "Outlander" who will be joining Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are Dominique Pinon as Master Raymond, Stanley Weber as Le Comte St. Germain, Romann Berrux as Fergus, and Audrey Brisson as Sister Angelique.
