'Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon' Nintendo 3DS Review: Open World Combat Brings More Challenging Difficulty
The seventh installment from the "Pokemon" franchise, "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon" for the Nintendo 3DS, is thus far the best title from the series.
With its "stronger difficulty balance, greatly improved recruitment system, and fairly brief dungeon-crawling missions," the game sets the bar higher among others, according to Games Radar .
Like any other "Pokemon" title, it's an adventure game that takes Pokemons to school, shop, roam around, fight in battles, and explore mission dungeons.
The game starts with a simple personality test that can be bypassed. By holding a finger on the screen, players are transformed into a Pokemon and enters the world inhabited by Pokemons.
After which, players need to form a group of 20 Pokémon, including the starters from core RPG Pokémon games plus Pikachu and Riolu, and will interact with all the 720 known Pokémon they attempt to save the world.
Yibada said that though "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon" has a simple gameplay, it's worth it to add on a player's Nintendo 3DS library.
Interestingly, its difficulty level is higher compared to its predecessors. Also, its combat mode which takes place in the open world "makes the player's moves more important since it will initiate retaliation from a hostile Pokemon."
"Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon" was released in Nov. 21 last year for the Nintendo 3DS. Currently, the game is on sale with 20% off on Amazon. However, this deal is exclusive to Amazon Prime members only, according to the retailer's website.
The game will arrive in Europe and Australia on Feb. 19. As part of Nintendo's 20th anniversary, the gaming company will be releasing a Nintendo 2DS "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon" themed cover plate in Europe, RPGFan reported.
Meanwhile, Nintendo recently released Wonder Mail passwords for the Pokemon adventure game which will unlock items on the game.
"Note that you'll need to have progressed to Chapter 2 and have saved your game before the Wonder Mail option will appear on the main menu," Nintendo wrote.
It added that more passwords will be released in the coming weeks. Players are advised to watch them out on Nintendo Outlets.
