'John Wick 2' Cast News: Ruby Rose To Play Sequel's Main Antagonist; International Villains Confirmed
Keanu Reeves' "John Wick 2" is fast becoming one of this years most-anticipated releases. While many are excited for "The Matrix" star's return, fans are also excited over Ruby Rose's arrival onto the scene.
Of course, there have been speculations on the 29-year-old actress' role since she was added to the sequel's cast late last year. Producers are keeping details about her role under wraps, although it is widely believed that she will play a female crime lord.
It was previously rumored that Common was cast to play "John Wick 2's" chief baddie. Now, Screen Rant speculates that Ruby Rose's character will actually play the movie's main villain, and the rapper-turned-actor will play as her bodyguard.
Then again, Ruby Rose is no stranger to the action genre. The Australian beauty is also set to appear in the upcoming video game movie sequel "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter," so it isn't too far off to speculate she will get in on the action on "John Wick 2."
Apart with Reeves, Common and Rose, the cast also includes Ricciardo Scamarcio ("Burnt"), Peter Stormare ("Prison Break"), Ian McShane ("Hercules"), John Leguziamo ("Chef"), Bridget Moynahan ("Battle Los Angeles"), Laurence Fishburne ("Man of Steel"), Thomas Sadoski ("Life In Pieces") and Lance Reddick ("The Guest").
The original film follows the story of the titular character, a former assassin who comes out of retirement when his former employer's son mistakenly assaults him and kills his dog which was a present from his deceased wife.
2014's sleeper hit earned $14 million on its opening weekend and made a total of $43 million domestically and $130.9 million globally.
The sequel is directed by Chad Stahelski from a screenplay by Derek Kosltad
