'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Return Spoilers:Series Welcomes Bad-Ass Character In Jesus

Previous "The Walking Dead" season 6 spoilers have confirmed the arrival of the psychotic, ultra-violent villain Negan to be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

While the show has welcomed a new antagonist, it will not be short of a protagonist.

In fact, Rick Grimes' group will get an additional ally in Paul "Jesus" Monroe to be played by Tom Payne. What can fans expect from this new character when "The Walking Dead" season 6 returns? A lot.

"He's smart, quick, very athletic," series creator Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. "He's kinda been surviving on his feet. He's going to be bringing a lot to the show. There's some cool stuff coming with him."

Before that, Kirkman said Jesus is a bad-ass survivor.

"Jesus is just such a fun character to write in the comics," he said when asked for "The Walking Dead" season 6 spoilers.

"At this point in the life of the series, my thought is the apocalypse has been going on for so long, the people you encounter in your day-to-day life have to be extremely skilled."

He added, "And they've been surviving for a reason, whether they were at a place like Alexandria that's very safe, or they're a great leader of their group and somewhat sadistic but in control of their group like Negan, or someone who's an absolute, complete badass like Jesus."

In the comics where the show was based from, Paul Monroe is called Jesus because of his resemblance to the Christian figure. Although he looks like him, he boasts of great fighting skills.

He is also an escape artist and a competent tracker. The character first met Grimes' group after he was caught spying by Michonne and Abraham Ford.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 returns on Feb. 14 with an episode entitled "No Way Out."

While Negan is the most anticipated character in the show, he will only appear in this year's finale, according to "The Walking Dead" season 6 spoilers from The Hollywood Reporter.
