It was reported earlier this month that "Firefly" alumna Jewel Staite has joined the "Legends of Tomorrow" cast as Rachel Turner, a tech genius and roboticist from the future.

This character may sound like another person the Legends Team will run into during their time travel forays. However, she is more than just that. Showrunner Phil Klemmer said Turner is a descendant of one of the heroes/wild cards grouped together by Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter.

"She's related to one of our heroes," Klemmer stated as per report by Comic Book Movie. "We will find that she's not a person off the street. We are going into the most distant future that we will be visiting, and we will find that she is the biological result of something that one of our characters either directly or indirectly did before their recruitment in the pilot, in 2016."

Klemmer also explained about the domino effect caused by the main character's actions, even if they are not aware of them.

"As we know, when we pull our characters out of the timeline, they cease to have an effect on the future, but this will be a sort of Ghost of Christmas Future where somebody will realize that something that they did before they left had a butterfly effect on the future that will effectively - they will have aided and abetted Vandal Savage's rise to power," he said.

Theories were then made in Comic Book Movie's comments section. Some are sure that it will be Ray Palmer while others think it will be Leonard Snart/Captain Cold.

When Staite's arrival as part of "Legends of Tomorrow" cast was first confirmed, the report only said that she is from the clan of inventors from DC Universe.

"A descendant of a long line of inventors - one of whom turns out to be someone from the DC Universe," TV Line wrote in its exclusive report.

Inside the Arrowverse, known inventors and scientists are Victor Garber's Dr. Martin Stein, Palmer, Harrison Wells, and Cisco. The latter portrayed in "The Flash" by Carlos Valdes, who is also part of "Legends of Tomorrow" cast, is credited for mechanical weapons like what Snart is holding right now.
