Emma Watson Slammed For 'Feminist' Tribute Following Alan Rickman's Funeral

Emma Watson was one the many actors who paid tribute to Alan Rickman following his funeral. The actor was surrounded by friends and family when he passed, after succumbing to pancreatic cancer at age 69.

According to Independent UK, Watson who played the role of Hermione alongside Alan Rickman's Severus Snape in the "Harry Potter" series, paid her own tributes in celebrating the late actor's life by highlighting his talents and the friendship they developed after working on eight movies together.

Shortly after Alan Rickman's funeral, Emma Watson tweeted a photo with a quote from the actor, reading: "There is nothing wrong with a man being a feminist - I think it is to our mutual advantage."

While her tweet was an exact quote from Rickman, Watson, an advocate for gender equality, was slammed by netizens who thought she was using the actor's death to push her agenda.

In turns out that it was only one of Watson's many tweets about the late actor.

Rickman rose to international fame after portraying the villain Hans Gruber in 1988's "Die Hard." He secretly wed his partner Rima Horton in 2012 after being together for 50 years. The two met at the Chelsea College of Art and Design, when he was 19 and she was 18.

Alan Rickman's funeral comes months ahead before the release of his latest film called "Eye In The Sky" which also stars Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul. Emma Watson, meawhile, has been cast in the live-action adaptation of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," set for release in 2017.
