Ahmed Mohamed's Family Withdraws Him From Texas School; Where Will He Be Transferred To?
Following his arrest and suspension this month, the family of 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed withdrew their son from Macarthur High School. This has been confirmed by his father, Mr. Mohamed El-Hassan Mohamed, who also withdrew all his children from their respective schools in the Irving Independent School District.
According to Telegraph UK, the family is still deciding on which school their children will transfer to.
Earlier this month the young Ahmed made a homemade clock and brought it to school on the purpose of showing his work to his teacher, which unfortunately lead to his arrest when another teacher saw the item and thought that it was a bomb. No charges have been put against him, but he was suspended from attending school for three days.
The incident soon caused an uproar; Ahmed received outpouring support from netizens around the world including US President Barack Obama. In fact, Tech Insider revealed that Microsoft gave the young student a ton of gadgets and encouraged him to continue his creative streak.
However, the incident created a sad effect on the teenager too, with Mr. Mohamed saying that his son has lost appetite and not sleeping well. He also told the press that he was very sad that his teacher thought his clock was a threat and felt a very wrong impression on it.
Ahmed's family, following the withdrawal, received numerous offers from various schools that are willing to accept their son as their student. However, Mr. Mohamed said that he wants to give his son a break before making a decision as reported by BBC.
He also said that his family had plans to fly to New York on Wednesday, where dignitaries from United Nations want to meet their son. Mr. Mohamed wants to bring Ahmed on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia if possible. They will also visit the White House and a meeting with the President is also in the works after they return.
