Dana White Gives Ronda Rousey Ample Rest Before Next Fight, Says She's Still Bigger Than McGregor
Ronda Rousey's next fight and opponent is yet to be determined, which may be a good thing as UFC president Dana White said he wants Rowdy to have as much rest as she can.
"This woman has done so much in the last three, three and a half years for the UFC, for the sport, for the women's division," White told Evan Doherty of Yahoo! Sports. "She's been working non-stop, like 30 jobs. What this woman has accomplished is incredible. If she wants time off, she can have as much time off as she wants."
Dana White previously confirmed that Ronda Rousey's next fight won't be in UFC 200 as previously anticipated. He also said that Holly Holm, the fighter who handed Rowdy her first loss in November, will take on another fighter before her.
Per a UFC report, Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is believed to be Holm's next opponent.
Ronda Rousey has been the face of UFC since 2012 and gave mixed martial arts fans entertaining fights. She is also one of the keys in helping women's MMA leap to greater heights. This is one of the reasons why Dana White gives her ample time to rest and recover before her next fight.
"Ronda means a lot to the UFC and to the sport, as an everything," White continued. "Everything this woman does, she's incredible. She's an unbelievable athlete, personality, friend, partner, you name it. Ronda Rousey is amazing."
UFC 200 will not take place until July 9. Fans don't have to fret though as they will still be treated with an exciting match as MMAJunkie reported that Conor McGregor is set return to the octagon on UFC 197 against Rafael Dos Anjos in the lightweight division.
McGregor is believed to be the brightest star in UFC right now but White insists he is only living in Rousey's world.
"Yeah, Ronda Rousey is the biggest star in the UFC," White said. "But let me tell you what, Conor McGregor is nipping at her heels."
