'Empire' Season 2, Episode 11 Spoilers: A Singing Showdown Takes An Ugly Turn
The Lyon family is no stranger to animosity and competition. And the latest "Empire" season 2, episode 11 spoilers reveal that Lucius (Terrence Howard) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) are up for a big showdown after they were both nominated in same category in a music awards show.
"Empire" season 2, episode 11 is called "Death Will Have His Day."
"Lucious and Jamal's showdown for the American Sound Award's "Song of the Year" statuette will be a big arc when Empire returns," TV Line wrote in its spoilers for episode 11 of "Empire" season 2.
"We all know that one single award doesn't mean everything," showrunner Ilene Chaiken said. "But it certainly symbolizes to Lucious and Jamal the whole story of their relationship - the story of children surpassing their parents, of being the child of a famous and hugely successful artist."
Previous "Empire" season 2, episode 11 spoilers revealed that Jamal will find himself in a not-too-comfortable place, especially since he is going up against his own father who already dislikes him for being gay.
If the season started with them already on the same side, Lucius losing the control of Empire Entertainment will make further strain their relationship.
"This clearly is going to put a big strain on that relationship," Smollett told The Hollywood Reporter last month. "I think it would have been foolish ever to assume that that relationship would continue unchallenged."
The young actor also thinks Smollett's rise to the top of the music world will make his father insecure.
"Lucious is not ready to be surpassed by any of his children, not the least his gay son. That's going to create problems. Further to that, Jamal is an artist who will always struggle with telling his truth and living in his truth versus living in a world of fame and living in his celebrity status, which to an artist like Jamal, can be corrupting, and that's going to be a challenge for Jamal."
"Empire" season 2, episode 11 will air on March 30, almost three months since the mid-season finale. Stay tuned for more spoilers prior to the air date.
