In retaliation to North Korea's recent hydrogen bomb testing, South Korea has pursued its anti-North broadcast campaign. This campaign, a form of psychological warfare, has been detested strongly by North Korea.

South Korea's broadcast campaign features a variety of airings, including popular music from K-pop girl groups, weather forecasts, news snippets and North Korea critiques.

In response to South Korea's retaliatory strike, the communist country also expanded its loudspeaker propaganda broadcast system along their shared border, The Korea Times reported Monday. The broadcast blared out criticisms against South Korean President Park Geun Hye, messages of praises and loyalty pledges to the North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un and praises for the North's recent hydrogen bomb test.

An official from the office of South Korea's Defense Ministry said that the North have begun their own broadcasts in several locations along the frontline.

"The North initially operated its own loudspeakers at two locations and has now expanded to several locations," the official said. "In fact, the anti-South loudspeaker broadcasts appear to be coming from every location where we are broadcasting."

However, the broadcast coming from North Korea is reportedly not clear, according to AlJazeera.

"The broadcasts sound like someone muttering so we can only tell the gender of the announcer," a Joint Chiefs of Staff official said. "They seem to be chiefly aimed at drowning out the South Korean broadcasts so that North Koreans can't listen to them," the official added.

Another government source remarked that they were not sure if the North having issues with its electric power supply or if the problem lies with their loudspeakers since the sound is not clearly audible.

The South Korean government said it will continue what it has started. The government also stated that they have not witnessed any form of direct retaliation from North Korea.
