Jisoo Of K-pop Girl Group Tahiti Claims She Was Offered Sponsorship In Exchange For Sex
A K-pop girl from the Tahiti group expressed her displeasure of being offered sponsorship in return for sex on her Twitter and Instagram account.
According to Korea Times Shin Jisoo shared a thread of messages on Tuesday from a man who identified himself as a "Sponsorship broker." The man promised Jisoo $495 to $1,650 if she would agree to date one of his customers.
The Haps Magazine reported that such date with sponsors usually means that the "sponsor" would receive sexual favors in return.
The sponsor interested in meeting Jisoo and later have a sexual relationship with her is alleged to be one of Jisoo's biggest fan, PopMap asserted. The singer did not respond to the message. But, the broker sent another message stating "Just once or twice and we will pay more than other brokers. Four million won?"
Reports indicate that Jisoo then disclosed the messages through social media and warned the broker against sending her messages.
Her management also said that they would request a police investigation and sue the broker once the singer is back from a tour in Japan.
Jisoo's father is reportedly a police officer.
In other news, such sponsorship deals are very common in the entertainment sector, but the perpetrators are never found. Korea Times reported that in 2009, Jang Ja Yeon, a Korean actress, committed suicide after reportedly being coerced into having sexual relationships with top media and business moguls.
Ja Yeon left a suicide note explaining what happened. Reports indicated that the prosecutors used the note as a lead in their investigation but failed to come up with any concrete evidence against the suspect. The case was deemed closed due to lack of evidence.
