The director of the superhero-based Marvel movie, Joe Russo, recently fuelled major "Captain America: Civil War" spoilers on the faceoff between the Cap and Crossbones.

Comic Book reported that the spoilers tease the possibility that the antagonist will actually kill the lead character, Steve Rogers.

During a recent event in New Orleans, Frank Grillo who is set to play the role of Crossbones commented that he would love to kill the Avengers character in the upcoming movie "Captain America: Civil War."

Moreover, Russo affirmed Grillo's comment when he indirectly revealed the most unexpected spoiler for the upcoming movie.

"We may or may not have filmed that scene, though," Joe said as reported by Movie Web.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend reported that Joe and Frank referred to the actual combat between Crossbones and Captain America in the comics' version.

The spoilers reveal that Crossbones will brutally attack Steve Rogers when he surrenders himself over to the antagonist in the Marvel comics. The recent revelations from the cast and director of the upcoming movie hint at the possibility that the superhero character may finally see his end, IGN revealed.

Additionally, some rumors suggest that Russo's comments on Captain America's death are just a part of promotional activities for the film. It is also rumored that the upcoming flick will change the original screenplay of the Marvel's comics by keeping Steve Rogers alive.

Some spoilers even claim that Captain America's death will be kept limited to the Marvel comic's version, Comic Book Resources reported.

These speculations have been raised following reports that Captain America is rumored to be featured in the upcoming movie "Avengers: Infinity War Part I and II," which will be released in 2018 and 2019.

The movie will feature Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Chris Evans as Captain America.

"Captain America: Civil War" is slated to hit the theaters on May 6, 2016.
