‘Mafia 3’ April Release Date Confirmed? Gamestop, Amazon Pre-order Link Leaked Details
"Mafia 3" might be arriving earlier than expected, as Gamestop and Amazon listed the game with an Apr. 26 release date.
The alleged release date was also spotted on Best Buy's game cover, IGN reported.
However, game developer 2K games debunked the rumors from the game retailers with the following statement.
"Mafia 3 will release in calendar 2016 during Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year 2017. No official release date has been announced at this time. It is common practice for retailers to list placeholder dates before an official release date has been announced due to the requirements of their operating systems," cited by Xbox Achievements

After the release of "Mafia 3" trailer at Gamescon 2015, fans have since been clamoring for the game's details.
As per "Mafia 3" trailer, it revealed that the game will follow the story of Lincoln Cole, whose family has been murdered by the Italian. The main character seeks revenge and builds his own mafia. 2K added the action-adventure game, "continues the strong franchise tradition of a captivating story set in the treacherous and calculated world of organized crime."
"The Mafia franchise is known for its immersive sense of time and place, and for presenting compelling stories about life within organized crime," said Haden Blackman, studio head and creative director at developer Hanger 13, in a press statement as shared iDIgital Times.
"In Mafia III, we are introducing players to an unexpected new anti-hero and an iconic city to explore, all within a hard-boiled drama set during one of the most turbulent years in American history."
"Mafia 3" is expected to be an "overwhelming force and firepower" when released. Despite the lack of exact release date announcement, the game will be most likely be hitting store shelves sometime this year for PC, Xbox One and PS4, Game Rant reported.
