Ford Mustangs go through assembly at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant.

Compared to the latest Chevrolet Camaro, the Ford Mustang 2016 might be a bit slow on the tracks but this beast is outselling all of its rivals in the market.

The latest figure released by Ford shows that the Mustang is getting a lot of attention from the younger generation who are looking for a powerful engine with more gasoline mileage.

According to International Business Times, since June 2015, more than 68,000 Ford Mustangs were sold. Most of the buyers are members of the millennial age group, those who are in their early 30s or late 20s. In comparison, the Chevrolet Camaro was only able to sell 42,000 units at around the same time frame.

Considering the latest market figure, experts believe that the sports car market is still one of the most lucrative segment of the car industry. On the other hand, the sedan segment is slowly losing its appeal while the luxury car segment along with the sports car segment continue to grow.

According to NSEA Voice, the 2016 Ford Mustang is also making waves in the international market. The Ford muscle car outsells the Chevy Camaro in several markets including Australia, Japan, India and most part of South East Asia.

In order to make the new Mustang appeal to the younger generation, Ford has made significant tweaks to its flagship muscle car. Bigger engines are simply not the trend anymore as younger buyers tend to put more emphasis on a car's interior features and unique concept design.

A recent report also showed that car buyers are slightly gearing towards the technological aspect of a car instead of just focusing on the features under the hood. Touchscreen controls and smartphone connectivity are slowly becoming a ubiquitous feature on muscle cars, a quality that could have been frowned upon when it was introduced at least 20 years ago.

In order to cater to every segment of the market, Ford decided to launch an Eco model for the 2016 Ford Mustang.

The Mustang has an optional 2.3-liter turbocharged Ecoboost four-cylinder engine.
