Facebook Messenger App for Mac OS Might be on its way, according to a blurred image obtained recently.
TechCrunch shows off photo evidence and a report that Facebook has built its Messenger App for Mac Desktops. The leaked image reveals Facebook Messenger App for MAC desktop, that hasn't been released yet, used by one of the company's employee.
Releasing the messenger App officially for MAC could enable people to chat easily whenever they're using their PCs. Rather than having to use one of the many web browser tabs to switch between, in order to text their friends, this dedicated Messenger app for Mac desktops could make it more accessible.
However, Facebook has not yet released any official statement or confirmation regarding this and said "We don't comment on rumor or speculation."
It is true that, the more people using Facebook to chat, brings in more users to the company of apps and features. Irrespective of which device people use for chat, the facebook messenger makes the app more valuable for everyone by increasing the number of people who are instantly available through the app.
Also, detaching the app from the social media site could potentially make it easier for people in terms of avoiding ads (which were a source of revenue for the company). But that sacrifice could make Facebook to boost its chances of winning the war to control chat. With the fact that it has already separated messaging app from News feed on Mobiles.
By far, Facebook has been making open experiments on mobile platform but hasn't had much focus on the Desktop. Back in 2011, Facebook messenger app for Windows app was hastily given an official launch. But over the next two years, the company seemed to ignore the app to a great extent. And finally in March 2014, facebook shut it down.
It is since then that facebook hasn't had any desktop software available. But in April 2015, a dedicated Messenger.com browser interface was launched. It was designed to let users chat on a distraction free site.
According to iDownloadBlog, the blurry photo evidence shows a facebook employee using the pre-released version of Facebook Messenger App for Mac on his desktop. The app includes Messenger branding in both the app icon in the Dock and in the Menu Bar. Also, theres a navigation tab bar in the bottom left that matches options in the official iOS app, like Recent, Groups, People and Settings.
