Chevrolet Volt 2016 Reviews Are In; New Model A 'Game Changer?'
Chevrolet has formally unveiled its newest model, the Volt 2016 at this year's CES event. With numerous Auto Geeks already releasing their own reviews, here's a gist of it:
It is the company's newest battery-powered electric car, Though it is not the only e-car around. Joining the pre-production prototypes at the little test track it allowed for journalists, were a pair of Volts that seemed like Second Generation Plug-in Hybrid Electronic vehicles.
The First-gen Volt had taught the company a lot about EVs and its Fan base provided a lot of feedback to be incorporated in the second gen.
For its features, fans say that it has much improved interiors and powertrain that is both lighter and more powerful than ever. The vehicle combines an electric motor and a 18.4 kWh battery with a 1.5L direct-injection gasoline engine that helps charge the batteries and power the front wheels, cited CARS TECHNICA.
To add to the initial reviews, the Chevrolet Volt 2016 model has two different driving modes, D & L. The L mode increases the amount of regenerative braking to allow you to drive the vehicle via a single pedal, but according to the chief engineer, in a stop-and-go traffic, one should probably want to use the brake pedal as well.
In another review, the car is dubbed to be a game changer. "Cliche or not, Chevy's 200-mile Bolt EV is a game-changer for the masses," according to Mashable.
Moreso, the vehicle is expected to be capable of travelling more than 200 miles on a single charge.
Its new feature is a 10.2- inch touch screen mounted in the center dash enabling the drivers to make use of the screen display rather than having to hunt through tons of menus.
It has widget-based themed displays with customizable screen that can be lit up with a split-screen that shows a standard rear-view camera and a virtual bird's eye view of the car named "Surround Vision," which stitches images of four external cameras into one.
In regards to its connectivity, the model has low-energy bluetooth capabilities and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
Last on the review, the Chevrolet Volt 2016 is priced at around $30,000 and will be available towards the end of this year.
