January 2016 Free Games On PlayStation Plus Announced Next Week; Predictions Arise!

PlayStation Plus free games in January 2016 will be announced next week instead of this week, according to PlayStationLifeStyle.net.

Last year, Sony announced the free PlayStation Plus games in January 2015 ahead of time. There were no details why it was announced earlier, but some game websites speculated that it was in the holiday spirit. PS Plus is a monthly subscription service that offers free games to users for the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. This subscription is also required for online multiplayer features on the PS4 and sometimes on the PS3.

Today, the free games for the first month of 2016 will not be revealed ahead of the usual time. PlayStation Europe Blog Manager Fred Dutton revealed that the announcement will not likely happen until Dec. 30.

"Things can change right up to the wire, so I'm reluctant to give a firm date," said Dutton. "But at present, yes, the intent is to have the news for you mid-next week."

Dutton was also asked on Twitter today which he answered promptly, "likely next week," according to Gear Nuke.

There are no details on the specific date for the reveal for the PlayStation Plus free games for January 2016, according to Gamespot. Game websites are waiting for the announcements for now.

While there are no official announcements yet, some game websites have already made predictions on what triple A games will be included in the first month of 2016, according to Christian Today. Some game websites speculate that since Xbox One players will receive triple A games like "Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition" and "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" next year, it could also mean that Sony might give away triple A games to compete with.

Some rumored titles for next year's free games are "Dark Souls 2," "Batman: Arkham Origins," "Watchdogs," "Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" and "King's Quest."

Either way, Sony is still silent of the details of what PlayStation Plus free games in January 2016 will be.
