Re-Signings & Resignations: K-Pop Groups With Expiring Contracts in 2023
When a K-Pop group debuts, they usually sign a 7-year contract with an agency. In those 7 years, the idols work as hard as they can to compete in a cut-throat industry. After 7 years, regardless of fame or infamy, contracts are once again discussed and negotiated.

ASTRO - debuted in February of 2016 under Fantagio Entertainment.
The members of ASTRO are gearing up for a comeback on the 16th of May.
WJSN - debuted in February of 2016 under Starship Entertainment and Yuehua Entertainment.
WJSN's Korean members are under Starship while their Chinese members are under Yuehua.
The Chinese members have been inactive since 2018 as they are focusing on solo activities. The Korean members are currently competing in Mnet's "Queendom 2."
BLACKPINK - debuted in August of 2016 under YG Entertainment.
BLACKPINK's last comeback was in October of 2020 with their first studio album entitled "THE ALBUM." Though there have been whispers of a possible BLACKPINK comeback this summer, nothing has been confirmed.
PENTAGON - debuted in October of 2016 under CUBE Entertainment.
Their last comeback was in January with their mini-album "IN:VITE U." At the moment, PENTAGON's Hongseok is completing his mandatory military service.
SF9 - debuted in October of 2019 under FNC Entertainment.
On the 29th of June, SF9 will drop their Japanese album entitled "The Best ~Dear Fantasy~." Adding to this, SF9's Inseong and Youngbin are currently undergoing their mandatory military service.
VICTON - debuted in November of 2016 under IST Entertainment.
VICTON is preparing for a comeback on the 31st of May 31. The male K-Pop group will drop their seventh mini-album entitled "Chaos" alongside its title track "Stupid O'Clock" soon.
MOMOLAND - debuted in November of 2016 under MLD Entertainment.
MOMOLAND's last comeback was on the 14th of January with their English single "Yummy Yummy Love." The song was done in collaboration with Natti Natasha.
Brave Girls - current members debuted with the girl group in 2016 under Brave Entertainment.
Brave Girls' last comeback was on the 14th of March with the mini-album "THANK YOU." They are currently competing in Mnet's "Queendom 2."
NCT - some NCT members debuted in 2016 under SM Entertainment.
The first members of NCT U, NCT Dream, and NCT 127 will be undergoing contract discussions. Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, Mark, Yuta, Winwin, Haechan, Renjun, Jeno, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung are among those due for contract negotiations.
Furthermore, Johnny will also have contract negotiations at the end of December of 2023, the time when he joined NCT 127.
