At present, the "Assassin's Creed" game is called 'Rift' and was originally supposed to be an expansion to Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed Valhalla." Reports noted that the new stand-alone game will be smaller and will no longer be the large and open-world, focusing mainly on stealth.

Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed Valhalla" has gotten a lot of DLCs further extending its storyline. But fans have been hoping for a return to the franchise's roots where stealth was a bigger focus rather than open-world exploration.

Notably, a spokesperson from Ubisoft went on to announce that the company does not give comments regarding rumors and speculations.

Ubisoft's announcement is as follows:

"Ubisoft has one of the strongest in-house creative teams that are developing incredible experiences for our players. We have a solid and exciting line-up of titles in our pipeline, both established brands with new story twists and features, and brand new IPs that will continue to change the landscape of today's video games. We don't comment or engage on rumors or speculation as they do a disservice to our development teams and community."

"Assassin's Creed" fans are now more excited to see what Ubisoft has in store for the future as a return to the former ingredients that made the franchise its popularity is a huge welcome.

Furthermore, recent reports also added that Ubisoft's slim release lineup is mainly due to recent workplace related issues. Previous reports in 2020 explained a culture of sexism and harassment at the company

Since then, reports have gone on to suggest Ubisoft is still facing the issues evidently seen in staff parting ways from the company
