To the shock of netizens and My Days (the fandom name of DAY6), DAY6's lead guitarist, main vocalist, face of the group Jae announced to fans that he would be taking a break from group activities.

Prior to this news, My Days were surprised as DAY6's Dowoon revealed that he would be enlisting in the military sooner than expected to shorten the hiatus of DAY6. Members Sungjin and Young K are already serving in the military.

Since DAY6's Jae is not a South Korean citizen, Wonpil is the only DAY6 member who has not yet begun his mandatory military service. But more recent updates regarding DAY6 have surprised fans more.

As of writing this article, today on the 1st of January at midnight KST, Jae posted this update on his personal Twitter:

"Hello, My Day [fandom name]. I am sincerely grateful for all of you who have been together with DAY6 and I. For the past six years, I have been really happy, and made memories that will last forever in my heart. I've had a lot of thoughts and put in a lot of work, but I am still lacking in too many areas for me to stay where I am now. After discussions with the agency, I am sorry to tell you that I have arrived at the decision to take a break from DAY6 activities for now. I will cherish the memories of sweating and running together, crying and rejoicing together, from the past six years, and return having grown! This has been DAY6's Jae. Thank you."

As of writing this article, JYP Entertainment has yet to release its own statements on the matter.
