On the 4th of December, the 2021 Melon Music Awards (aka the 2021 MMAs) occurred, and multiple Korean artists took home awards based on data collected from Melon such as votes, expert scores, and many more.

Similar to the 2020 MMAs, this year's MMA occurred online and was streamed live on 1theK's official YouTube channel.

Soloist IU went on to win five awards which include "Album of the Year" and "Artist of the Year," even though this is her first outing in the awards show after being absent for four years.

Notably, BTS also took home five awards during this year's MMAs, and among them is the coveted "Song of the Year."
SM Entertainment's monster rookie K-pop group also took home the Daesang award for "Record of the Year."
