SM Supremacy: aespa & NCT 127 In The New York Times’s ‘Best Albums Of 2021’

To the delight of the fans of artists from SM Entertainment, two of the label's most popular K-pop artists just reached a tremendous milestone outside of Korea!

NCTzens (the fandom name of NCT) and MYs (the fandom name of aespa) cheer as both NCT 127 and aespa have been the only K-pop artists in history to make The New York Times's lists of the "Best Albums of 2021". This milestone shows how popular the artists are overseas.

Notably, The New York Times's music critics have already published their year-end lists for their personal picks for the best albums of this year, and both SM Entertainment's aespa and NCT 127 were able to get spots on one of their amazing lists.

aespa's first mini-album entitled "Savage" and NCT 127's most recent studio album "Sticker" were both included in the top 40 Best Albums of 2021 from critic Jon Caramanica. The two K-pop groups are the only Korean artists on the list that are mostly dominated by western or English-speaking artists.

As 2021 comes closer to ending, the future only seems bright for SM Entertainment's monster rookie K-pop girl group aespa and even brighter for the coming years for NCT 127. Netizens and fans are excited to see what K-pop artists have to offer in 2022.

Each year the K-pop genre grows ever popular in the western scene, and it seems as though SM Entertainment is leading the scenes in terms of this revolution.
