'Girls Planet 999' Credibility Questioned After Chinese Contestant Reveals Unfair Treatment
'Girls Planet 999' is in deep waters after a big revelation from one of its contestants has put the show's authenticity in question. With the show's end nearing, this does not bid well for Mnet's reality show.
The show, which debuted last August 6, 2021, and was announced to have 12 episodes that would be aired every Friday for 12 consecutive weeks had a massive following. The premise of the show is taking 99 girls from both China, Japan and Korea who auditioned and training them, a voting system that is not only enclosed to Korean netizens but also in other countries.
Now, claims from one of the Chinese contestants have been circulating the internet after she revealed that the show's treatment of the girls was different. According to her claims, she has noticed that the Korean staff of 'Girls Planet 999' had better treatment for the Korean contestants.
Furthermore, she explained that most of the 'C girls' (Chinese contestants) would band together and cry because of the unfairness. A netizen posted a contestant's message on a Korean website, which gave it traction.
Netizens also believe that Mnet is manipulating the votes of the show, favoring the Korean contestants. This is to make sure that the debuting group from the show will have a majority of Koreans.
'Girls Planet 999' had a massive debut and apparently over 13,000 applicants applied but only 99 were chosen. These 99 girls were divided into 3 groups, which are called 'cells' and the entire cell of girls can be eliminated all at once, which made the show super competitive.
