South Korean national baseball team won the Premier 12 baseball tournament after defeating the United States 8-0. Japan Times reported on Nov. 21 that Park Byung Ho led the team with a three-run homer during the fifth inning.

Team USA manager Willie Randolph said Park gave them a headache during the final game.

"You can tell [Park] is a dangerous hitter," said Randolph. "We tried to execute a pitch and we couldn't and he hurt us with a three-run homer. He's a fine player."

He went on, "Park really stood out to me as someone who is a strong hitter, who has an idea of what he's doing up there."

South Korea head coach Kim In Sik said his team did a fantastic job after winning against the US, which he said was a strong contender.

"As expected they were very strong," Kim said. "We'd faced them once and we were aware of that, and we were able to have a big inning a score a lot of runs."

"The players did their country proud. We did a fantastic job and it's very pleasing to win the gold medal in such style, he added, as noted by Daily Mail Saturday.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Soo was named as the Premier 12 most valuable player after the tournament concluded.

"I never expected to win such an award," he said. "Lee Dae Ho didn't hit as he usually does, and (before the tournament) I'd thought that he might be the MVP. This is my first time to win an MVP award, so I'm happy about that."

He also revealed that the South Korea national baseball team made a lot of adjustments prior to their game against the US.

"We made a lot of adjustments after the last game. We focused on being able to hit their fastballs and I think our strategy worked out well," Kim said.
