BTS's Jimin's Solo Dance In 'Spring Day' Highlights Korean Dance Culture And Gets Him Recognition

BTS's Jimin's solo dance on "Spring Day" has been praised by a Korean culture and art researcher for its unique way of showcasing and combining mastery of dance with K-pop.

Youngin Jo, an art researcher from Korea Culture and Art Society, gave his two cents on Jimin's exemplary dance style, as well that of BTS.

According to the expert, BTS's choreography is very noteworthy for the important cultural phenomenon it made in the music industry.

He pointed out that Jimin, especially, is one of the best dancers out there and that his way of movement is very exceptional and unparalleled.

"Jimin is greatly influenced by having studied dance as his ajor and combines mastery of dance with K-pop senisibilities." Youngin Jo shared to Waverse magazine.

"During Jimin's solo dance in 'Spring Day', he raises his feet skyward proportionately to the strength he uses to draw in his legs. The way he shifts his center of gravity and the connecting movement between his arms and each step, are strikingly similar to the movements found in modern and Korean interpretive dance," He continued.

The 25-year-old idol graduated from Busan High School of Arts as the "Top Dancer in Modern Dance." He is a formidable dancer in Creative dance, as well as Traditional dance. He also had a background in Ballet, which allows him to be lithe in his dances.

This is not the first time that Jimin has been praised for his dancing skills. In 2019 he received a plaque of appreciation from the Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society after he wowed everyone in the 2018 Melon Music Awards' Korean fan dance performance.

Due to Jimin combining both traditional and modern takes on dancing and showing it to a global audience through his solo dances and through BTS, the Korean dance culture has influenced new generational dancers.
