Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, almost everyone was stuck indoors on account of the quarantine happening all throughout the world. Due to this, sales in the Nintendo Switch skyrocketed. Almost everyone wanted their hands on the titular two-way console. 

The ability to play the Nintendo Switch in portable mode or dock it in home console mode and the release of the latest "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" was really welcomed by those unable to leave the comfort of their homes. 

Moreover, records show that last year, the Nintendo Switch was the best selling console in 2020. As of January 2021, the Nintendo Switch has sold 70 million copies world-wide, and the trend shows that it's only going up from there moving forward.
