'Arrow' Cast Gets Emotional Following Announcement Of Series Final Season; Stephen Amell Hints Of Coming Back
It's official. Oliver Queen will hang up his vigilante suit and bow and arrow very soon.
The CW has announced that Arrow Season 8 will be the last installment for the DC superhero series. Arrow will return for its last season in fall with only 10 episodes which are more than half short of its usual 23 episodes.
Arrow lead star Stephen Amell has also confirmed the announcement via Facebook Live. Amell served not only as an actor for Arrow but also as executive producer along with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Beth Schwartz, and the big bosses of The CW and Warner Bros. This means Amell has a say on when the series will end.
The actor admitted that he can't still wrap his head around the fact that Arrow is finally bowing out. Amell got emotional during the broadcast as he talks about how important Arrow has been in his life.
"I've always been a fan of television shows that not only don't overstay their welcome but end in a manner that really packs a punch," Amell said.
He admitted that he knew that the end of Arrow is inevitable, he is still hurt that the show that changed his life is finally coming to an end. Stephen Amell said he will never forget the experience he gained from the series. Amell also tweeted that portraying Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience in his life.
But what intrigues the Arrow fans the most is Amell's statement that hints Oliver or the Green Arrow might be seen again in the future. This may possibly happen in the remaining DC series on The CW.
"Even when I'm done, I won't be gone," Amell said before concluding his broadcast.
The Arrow series finale announcement came on the heel of rumors that the Arrowverse might undergo a restructuring after the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover next year. In the planned crossover, The CW-DC superheroes will come together along with newcomers such as Batwoman.
Meanwhile, other cast members also shared their thoughts about the last season of Arrow. David Ramsey (John Diggle) thanked fans for their support.
Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) confessed that she still can't believe that Arrow is bidding goodbye soon. The actress admitted that she can't find the words to express her emotion. She instead shared a hilarious picture of her alongside Amell and Ramsey.
Rick Gonzalez (Rene Ramirez) and Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), on the other hand, thanked the cast and crew for the "incredible ride." Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake) called her time with Arrow as the greatest adventure of her life. Colin Donnell (Tommy Merlyn) said the show is the highlight of his career while Echo Kellum (Curtis Holt) said the end of Arrow is also the end of an era.
