The reason to Liam Neeson's weight loss is revealed after four months.

In July, fans speculated that Liam Neeson might have fallen ill who was seen in a picture looking thin and frail. The 6'4 foot actor's clothes are hanging on him with a sunken face that left fans didn't almost recognize him.

The actor recently revealed that his weight transformation is his preparation for his role in Martin Scorsese's film "Silence" as Father Cristóvão Ferreira, according to Daily Mail.

Liam Neeson's spokesperson clarified the speculation saying that he has "Never been healthier," reported by News.com.au.

Martin Scorsese's new movie is a story about the quest of two Jesuit Portuguese priests in Japan to spread Christianity. Liam Neeson lost 10 kg, which he explained that, "Martin wanted us all to look a bit more gaunt, which Adam and Andrew did as well," according to News.com.au. The movie is based from the 1966 Shusaku Endo's novel that was set in 17th century.

His fellow stars Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver also shed some weight for the movie. "Adam went to the extreme," Neeson said reported by New York Daily News. "He's an ex-marine and when he's given an order, he follows it through," he continued.

He shared details about the director and his role saying, "He's a very special director and for actors he's exceptional," the actor said according to Collider.

"His level of concentration and focus, what he prepares for the actors before you come on set is just wonderful," he added.

"He's legendary - so as a performer you have to get over that," Neeson said in a statement referring to Martin Scorsese.

"I had to get over that...He requires absolute silence on set, like everybody has to stop work when he's giving a direction or explaining a scene. I mean everybody - the guy that's painting 400 yards away has to stop. If he hears one tiny sound, it's shattered for him so he commands that respect. He commands that silence and especially for this film it was necessary," he added.

"Silence" is expected to hit theaters late in 2017 at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival but not confirmed.
