NCIS and its spinoffs will all return with an intense episode in October. Aside from picking up from the life-threatening ending in their previous seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans will also introduce new characters.

NCIS earlier confirmed that Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) will replace Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) in the lab. Now, NCIS LA and NCIS NOLA have announced that there will be new additions to their family as well.

Superfly actor Esai Morales will play a recurring character in the upcoming NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10.  He will portray the role of Deputy Director Gaines, who is smart and authoritative yet a trustworthy NCIS Deputy Director.

NCIS: Los Angeles will return with a brand new season but it is still unclear whose agents' life will be in jeopardy after their mission in Mexico ends up tragically. But one thing is for sure, Callen (Chris O'Donnell), Sam (LL Cool J), Kensi (Daniela Ruah), and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) will be facing repercussion for their action when they return home.

Fortunately, they will find an ally on Gaines. He will be in LA to accompany a special prosecutor from the Department of Defense who is tasked to investigate the LA office and its employees following the team's operation in Mexico. It looks like he will back up the LA team as he gives them advice on how to answer the prosecutor's questions.

Viewers will meet the new NCIS: LA character in a late October episode. Aside from Superfly, Morales also appeared on Ozark, Chicago P.D., Criminal Minds, and How to Get Away with Murder.

Unlike in LA, the New Orleans agents will find themselves a new adversary while looking for a replacement for Agent Sonja Percy (Shalita Grant). Grimm actor Reggie Lee joins the cast of NCIS: NOLA as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Steven Thompson. It looks like Thompson will give the Big Easy agents a hard time this season.

Deadline reported that Thompson will arrive in New Orleans and will often clash with Agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) as they have different approaches in prioritizing workload. It seems like he will not go easy on Pride even though the latter just took some bullets in Season 4 finale.

Lee is not new in portraying a role as a law enforcement officer. He is best known as Sergeant Wu on NBC fantasy police procedural series Grimm. Lee also played as a Gotham City police officer in 2012 movie The Dark Knight Rises.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 5 kicks off on September 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET while NCIS: Los Angeles Season 10 will premiere on September 30 at 9 p.m. Both air on CBS.
