BTS 2018 News & Updates: Bangtan Boys' ARMY Took The Center Stage & Named The 'Fiercest Fans' At 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards
Korean boy band BTS dominated the recent 2018 Radio Disney Music Award and took home three trophies. However this time around, their ARMY received recognition as well.
BTS was nominated in three categories at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards, but they are not the only ones who received a nod from the U.S.-based music award-giving body. The K-pop group shared the spotlight with their ARMY, who was nominated for Fiercest Fans category.
BTS won the Best Dance Track for their single "When the Beat Drops," Best Duo/Group for "You Know You Love Them," and the Best Song That Makes You Smile trophy for "So Happy." BTS ARMY, on the other hand, won the Fiercest Fans award.
The Bangtan Boys were not able to receive their award personally, but RM, J-Hope, Jin, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook prepared a special message to their fandom for their unwavering support. The BTS ARMY, on the other hand, was well represented in the event.
Several members of the fandom took the center stage to receive their trophy on behalf of all BTS fans all around the world. They won against the Mendes Army of Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez's Selenators, Meghan Trainor's Megatronz, and the fan group of Marshmello called Mellogang.
"Thank you Radio Disney for playing BTS music all the time. Thank you RDMAs for voting as the Fiercest Fans coz that's what we are. And thank you BTS for everything that you do and always reminding us to love ourselves," a representative of the BTS ARMY said in their acceptance speech.
This is not the first award that the BTS ARMY has received in the U.S. They also took home the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Award's Best Fan Army award. The K-pop act's fans won against other singer/band's fans such as Justin Bieber's Beliebers, Selena Gomez's Selenators, Smilers of Miley Cyrus, Swifties of Taylor Swift, EXO-L of EXO, and more.
BTS ARMY was first introduced in 2013, a month after Bangtan Boys made their debut with the single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. The name stands for "Adorable Representative M.C for Youth." Basically, it means BTS fans will always be together for the Bangtan Boys.
Meanwhile, BTS performed at the 27th Lotte Family Concert over the weekend. The boys also debuted their new summer hair colors at the concert in Seoul, South Korea.
BTS had said goodbye to their #BTSBlackHairParty as they went back to their vibrantly colored locks. Jungkook is noticeable with his hot pink hair, Jin dyed his hair to platinum blonde, and V now sports a peach-blonde color. RM showed up on stage with his ashy brown hair, and Jimin has light brown hair. Suga and J-Hope, on the other hand, have dark brown hair.
