Yoona, EXO, Gong Hyo Jin Among Winners of Korea's First ELLE Style Awards
ELLE Korea is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the launch of Korea's first ELLE Style Awards. The upcoming November issue of ELLE is the magazine's Anniversary Special issue and will feature pictorials of the winners, which include EXO's Kai and Girls Generation's Yoona.
The first ELLE Style Awards was held in 1997 in the U.K., and since then the award show has been held in 26 countries including China, Australia, Spain, Denmark, and Malaysia. One Hallyu reports that Korea's first ELLE Style Awards event will take place on November 2nd at the K Museum of Contemporary Art.
Soompi notes that the winners were chosen for their contributions in defining contemporary Korean style. The awardees were selected to represent various areas in the world of style, including art, culture, performance, music and social media. Here are the winners of Korea's first ELLE Style Awards.
"Super Icon (Male)," Cha Seung Won. A famous Korean actor, Cha Seung Won has starred in many films and television series, including "The Greatest Love" and "Splendid Politics." He is set to star in an upcoming drama written by the Hong sisters.
"Super Icon (Female)," Gong Hyo Jin. Sometimes called Korea's queen of romantic comedy, Gong Hyo Jin has starred in "Sang-doo! Let's Go to School," "The Greatest Love," "Master's Son" and "Jealousy Incarnate."
"Super K-Pop Group," EXO. The group is represented by Kai in the upcoming ELLE Style Awards pictorial. The group's latest studio album "The War" was released in July.
"K-Style Icon," Yoona. As a member of Girls Generation, Yoona is one of the biggest K-pop stars in the world. She is also a commercial model and actress.
"Timeless Icon," Go So Young. She is "Ms. Perfect," or at least starred in the drama of that name earlier in the year. The show marked her return to acting after a long hiatus.
"Global Star," Bae Doona. An internationally-known actress who appeared in the film "Cloud Atlas," Bae Doona has since done English-speaking roles in "Jupiter Ascending" and the series "Sense8."
"Wild Gentleman," Go Soo. A well-known Korean film actor, Go Soo had starring roles in "Way Back Home," "The Royal Tailor" and "Lucid Dream."
"Legendary Actress," Yoon Yeo Jung. A veteran actress in Korean movie and TV circles, Yoon Yeo Jung has had roles in films such as "The Housemaid" and "The Taste of Money."
Other winners of Korea's first ELLE Style Awards are people from fashion, journalism, contemporary arts and social media. The awardees include "Voice of the Year" Son Suk Hee, "Outstanding Artist" Yang Hye Gyu, "Best Top Model" Jang Yoon Joo, "Style Creator" Jung Yoon Gi and "Style Influencer" Irene Kim.
