‘The Witcher’ Movie Is In The Works From ‘The Mummy’ Producers; Coming This 2017

"The Witcher" movie is coming soon with "The Mummy" producers at the helm, according to Gamespot.

"The Witcher" game franchise has been successful in the past few years. The recent iteration, "The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt," has gotten numerous awards from the recent video game awards in 2015.

It has also recently released "Heart of Stone" expansion for the game and the developers are continuing to fix bugs and issues of the game even now.

There will be a full-length movie, which will be based on "The Witcher" novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The Sean Daniel Company, the film production company that produced "The Mummy" series, has announced that they will be the ones to handle the film and will work with the Polish company Platige Films, according to sources.

Platige Films is not known, but their works are. The film company worked on the trailer of "The Witcher" called "The Trail." It also worked on the cinematics for "Halo 5: Guardians" and many more projects.

The new movie will be based on the short stories "The Witcher" and "Lesser Evil" which are all from "The Last Wish" collection, according to PlayStationLifestyle.net. The director of the movie is Tomasz Baginski who was nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for the movie "The Cathedral". There are no actors mentioned as of the moment.

This movie will focus on Geralt. "Lesser Evil" depicts how he became "the butcher of Blaviken," according to IGN.

This upcoming movie will be a prelude to the planned series of features which will be released through both TV and films, according to VG247. CD Projekt Red, the game developer, is reported to be not involved in the film, despite owning the rights to "The Witcher" brand.

"The Witcher" movie will be coming in 2017.
