A familiar and beloved character will come back when Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty" returns for its third season this summer. In an interview with writer Ryan Ridley, he teased that Evil Morty will greet the show's fans once again in Season 3.

In a podcast interview with Ridley, he said that's since the appearance of Evil Morty, also known as Eye Patch Morty in "Rick and Morty" Season 1 Episode 10 entitled "Close Tick-Counters of the Rick Kind," fans have been clamoring for his return. Ridley said that the writers have agreed to grant their wish as a fan service.

Ridley said that they are amazed by how fans are so invested in the show that they want to know what happens to the characters despite their brief stint in the show. That is why, in "Rick and Morty" Season 3, they are willing to answer these questions.

"The fact that people still care about characters that were introduced back in Season 1 and ideas - like the 'eye-patch/evil Morty' - in Season 3, I think we stay true to the idea that the world is real," Ridley said about the direction of "Rick and Morty" Season 3. He added: "There are consequences."

Another "Rick and Morty" writer Dan Guterman also promised fans of the show that they will be leveling up the fun in "Rick and Morty" Season 3. In a tweet, he said that they only gave a sample of what the show will deliver in the April 1 airing of Episode 1 entitled "The Rickshank Redemption" but the rest of the episodes will deliver in multiples.

It has earlier been reported by Korea Portal that "Rick and Morty" Season 3 will take inspiration from blockbuster movies like "Romancing the Stone" and "127 Hours." It is also expected that Rick will literally take the form of a pickle in the latter episode to depict the figurative speech "in a pickle." "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is expected to return to Adult Swim this July.
