Android O Update: Google Pixel & Pixel XL Scheduled To Receive Official OTA Update This August
Samsung's flagship, the Galaxy S8 might be ahead of the game in terms of hardware advancement, Xiaomi might be better in terms of pricing their handsets but Google smartphones would always be ahead in terms of OS updates. That statement reflects recent reports of Android O releasing on an earlier schedule for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
Android Police managing editor David Ruddock broke the news on his Twitter account, wednesday. He reveals that the official over-the-air Android O update will be released by the first or second of August for the Pixel and Pixel XL.
Google usually releases their official Android OS update at the same time of the launch of their Nexus or Pixel smartphones. This would also mean good news for third-party Android device owners, as they could possibly receive the official Android O OTA update at an earlier date as well.
However, for Google Nexus devices, there is still no clarification if they would also get the official Android O OTA update by August or if they'd need to wait until October, to again receive and update. Take note that the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and Pixel C are all compatible with the beta version of Android O, thus the possibility that these devices would still get the official Android O OTA by August.
