Girls Generation’s Seohyun, Ji Hyun Woo’s Appearance In ‘Bad Thief, Good Thief’ Sends TV Ratings Up

One of MBC's new series has captured the attention of avid K-drama lovers given its intriguing plot. Recently, viewership shares of the suspense series "Bad Thief, Good Thief" posted double-digit numbers with the appearances of lead stars Ji Hyun Woo and Girls Generation's Seohyun.

"Bad Thief, Good Thief" crossed the 10 percent viewership mark with its recent episode that featured the first onscreen appearances of main cast members Ji Hyun Woo and Girls Generation's Seohyun. Aired on May 28, Sunday, episode 6 posted nationwide TV ratings of 11.6 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Herald Corp. Across the Seoul metropolitan area, the said episode's ratings reached 11.7 percent.

The impressive ratings showed an increase of more than 2 percentage points from the drama's earlier episode. "Bad Thief, Good Thief" episode 5 that was released on May 27, Saturday, posted viewership shares of 9.5 percent and 9.2 percent across the nation and in the Seoul metropolitan area, respectively.

"Bad Thief, Good Thief" marks the first onscreen pairing of Ji Hyun Woo and Girls Generation's Seohyun. The "Queen In Hyun's Man" actor portrays Dol Mok, a talented young man who runs a respectable business but becomes a thief at night. Meanwhile, the Kpop singer plays the justice seeking police detective Soju who is adamant to learn the truth behind her father's death.

The said MBC drama also serves as the Kpop idol's first lead role project. Despite the backlash that Girls Generation's Seohyun received from critics, the songstress remained optimistic and even shared that she expected to get negative feedbacks from viewers. She made the revelation during the earlier press event for "Bad Thief, Good Thief" where the musician commented on her inexperience as an actress, Soompi reported.

Ji Hyun Woo's co-star explained that receiving criticisms is to be expected given her lack of acting projects. However, Girls Generation's Seohyun mentioned that she will use the said feedback to fuel her passion for acting in "Bad Thief, Good Thief." The Kpop idol stated, "I believe I will just have to show my sincerity as an actress as [I portray my role] ... I feel more responsible because of it."
